Meet Kong, a 1-year-old neutered male Pitbull mix who’s equal parts charm and cuddle! Fully vetted and brimming with personality, Kong is ready to find his forever home and become your next best friend. Kong was found abandoned near a Montessori school, hanging out with no food, water, or shelter. One of our volunteers spent 9 hours trying to gain his trust. CMM trapping ended up coming out to help trap him and the rest is history! His foster human has spent the last month or so getting to know him… and all we can say that he is truly special 🫶🏻
Dogs: Kong is a total socialite with other dogs! Whether it’s a play session in the yard or just hanging out, he loves canine companionship and adapts beautifully to their energy levels. A forever home with other dogs will be absolutely required for him.
Cats: Kong is calm and respectful with cats, making him a great addition to a home with feline friends. He knows how to give them space and coexist peacefully, which is just another reason to love him! He is more scared of them than anything.
Kids: Kong absolutely adores kids! That said, his big, playful personality sometimes comes with equally big nibbles, so older children might be a better match for his enthusiastic affection. He’s just a goofy boy who doesn’t realize his own strength!
Personality: Once Kong trusts you, he’s all about the cuddles. He’ll snuggle up next to you and melt your heart with his sweetness. While he can be a little picky about human touch at first, he quickly warms up to patient, kind-hearted people who take the time to earn his trust. Once you’re in his inner circle, you’ll have a loyal, affectionate companion for life. He loves to meet new people! He just wants to sniff and then keep his distance until he realizes they are a friend. Being around other very human friendly dogs also helps him realize that the new humans are cool.
Containment: Kong has an adventurous spirit and a curious mind, so he needs a secure home and careful supervision to make sure he stays safe and sound. There’s no guarantee that Kong will come back when called, due to his finnicky ability to trust. Which means off leash time on trails or being able to escape an unsecured yard are not options for him
Leash/crate: Kong is AMAZING in his crate. He doesn’t love going in… but can be easily convinced with a treat. He eats and sleeps in his crate. Leash skills… Kong needs some help in this department. He has recently become very reactive on leash as he has grown more comfortable in his foster home. If he sees another dog, he desperately wants to go and say hi…. But not everyone thinks fondly of a cropped eared pitbull pulling towards and screaming at them…🤣😅
